Packed with so much natural energy and nutrients (including a healthy caffeine kick), this matcha and kiwi energy burst smoothie will have your taste buds singing, whilst the rest of you is literally bouncing with motivation.

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 kiwi fruit
  • 1 Tbsp. Greek yogurt
  • 1-2 tsp. Matcha powder (depending on your caffeine preference!)
  • 1 tsp. honey
  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 4-6 ice cubes

Bananas - An excellent source of both simple and complex carbohydrates, bananas offer instant and longer lasting energy. They are also rich in potassium which helps fight against fatigue.

Kiwi fruit - Packed full of nutrients, kiwi fruit boasts more vitamin C than oranges. Vitamin C is an important nutrient for numerous reasons, including the maintenance of skin, bone and blood vessels. It is also vital in the production and excretion of L-carnitine, which is a molecule used in the process of burning fat for energy.

Greek yogurt - Rich in lactose, a simple carbohydrate, Greek yogurt provides your body with an instant energy supply. Couple this with its high protein content, it also provides long lasting energy, as well as the amino acids needed to build and repair muscles cells.

Matcha powder - Made from ground tea leaves, matcha powder is rich in both antioxidants and caffeine. Meaning it will help protect you against cell damage (signs of aging!), regulate blood sugar levels and boost your metabolism. The caffeine will also boost your energy levels both physically and mentally!

Honey - Apart from adding a delicious sweetness to any smoothie, honey also proves an instant energy kick. Unlike refined sugars, honey also contains small amounts of proteins, amino acids, enzymes and minerals, making it an excellent ingredient for any energy smoothie.

Almond milk - Almond milk is rich in proteins, lipids and fibre and is an excellent source of energy. It is also a good source of vitamins D and E, which are needed to help keep your brain alert and functioning at its optimal level.

Ice cubes -
Not only will the ice help make your smoothie thick, cool and delicious, it is also helping you stay hydrated, which is essential for maintaining energy levels.

Method:

  • Combine ingredients into a blender, or food processor, adding the ice last.
  • Blend the mixture for 1 minute then serve in a tall glass. Enjoy!
