Recipe: High antioxidant water infusion for recovery!

Exercise isn’t all good. I hear what you are saying but hear me out. When we exercise and put stress on our bodies, free radicals are developed which can lead to oxidative stress. Oxidative stress is the term given to an imbalance of production of free radical cells and the body’s ability to neutralize the harmful effects that these cells may cause.

Antioxidants in the form of vitamin C and E along with other minerals from the front line defense against the harmful damage that free radical cells are capable of and thus are able to prevent free radicals from damaging muscle cells, joints and tendons and capable of accelerating the healing process and minimizing fatigue.

However, when introducing antioxidants to your diet you must do so in small amounts. Recent research shows that overcompensating with the introduction or supplementation of antioxidants to help with recovery, can actually have a counterintuitive effect on your body’s ability to recover and can be detrimental to muscle growth.

This is due to your body being great at self-healing. Your body has the ability to deal with oxidative damage without the need of “over” supplementation. Overindulging in post-workout antioxidant supplementation interrupts the body’s ability to self-heal and disrupts the natural process that your body undertakes.

This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t consume antioxidants. What this means, however, is that you should allow your body to recover naturally and assist this process with the introduction of a small number of antioxidants from natural sources, fruit, in this case, berries – raspberries, strawberries and blueberries.

We recommend hydrating your body with this water infusion post workout, an hour or so after you have completed your workout. This will allow your body to begin its natural healing process and will provide it with the assistance it needs to ensure a full recovery is met more quickly.

Ingredients

Strawberries

Raspberries

Blueberries

What are the ingredients good for?

Strawberries, raspberries and blueberries are all high in natural antioxidants. The antioxidants from these berries will assist with the neutralization of free radical cells and oxidative stress and stop any harmful damage that may be experienced by these cells, thus helping the body to recover faster whilst also promoting muscle growth.

To receive the greatest results we always recommend to eat the fruit after using it for your water infusion! Please remember that the results experienced will be different for each individual.
