Workouts for a stronger core! Core workout series by Shannon Michelle! Part 2

Working out your core is great for getting a slimmer waist line, but it's good for so much more; improving your posture, improving sports performance, relieving back pain and helping with breathing. This week's workout is by Shannon Michelle aka Caligirlgetsfit! Shannon's workout is an advanced workout focused on building a stronger, more sculpted core!

Workout #2 - Monday: Core Burn 2

A strong core is essential to overall health and strength. A strong core helps to stabilize the body and keep it in proper alignment with good posture. Here are some of my favorite core exercises to challenge yourself and get stronger.

Wall split jumps

Description

  • Climb backwards on the wall to a plank at about a 70 degree angle with your hands on the floor
  • Jump so that your legs open more than shoulder distance apart
  • Jump back to a plank. Repeat 20 repetitions

Wall plank

Description

  • Climb backwards on the wall to a plank at about a 70 degree angle with your hands on the floor
  • Hold for 1 minute

Wall mountain climbers

Description

  • Climb backwards on the wall to a plank at about a 70 degree angle with your hands on the floor
  • Without changing your plank posture, raise your right knee toward your chest
  • Pause, return to the starting position and repeat with your left leg
  • That’s one rep. Alternate until you’ve completed 20 repetitions

Repeat the workout three times!

This workout is a little more challenging and incorporates a range of core workouts that you probably haven't done before. It's adds a great variety to your abs exercise and will be sure to help build a strong core!

The third and final part of this core workout series by Shannon Michelle will be up on Friday!  Embrace the burn!
